After purchasing the Always Pan in the Steam color in December 2021 and using it for the past 5 months, we at Selected Text are excited to share our review on this popular cookware product that’s taken social media by storm.

Overview of the Always Pan

Let’s start with the overall appearance of this pan.

The 10-inch diameter (2.7-inch depth, 2.6-quart capacity) Always Pan comes in a wide range of about 11 colors (along with at least 2 new colors in the Selena Gomez collection apparently?!). That alone was enough to create some intrigue, but the names of the colors were also fascinating, like the one called Blue Salt, described as a “dusty gray-blue”, the Lavender color, said to be a “soft dreamy purple”, and Heat, known as the “bold, spicy red”. Talk about some detailed visual appeal.

The eye catching colors are simply the outside of the pan, while the inside is made up of a gray substance that Our Place calls “exclusive nontoxic, nonstick ceramic coating” that is supposedly “made without potentially toxic materials like PFOAs, PTFEs, other PFAs, lead, cadmium, toxic metals, and nanoparticles”.

The body of the pan is constructed of “sturdy aluminum” that weighs about 3 lbs. The handle of the pan is what appears to be silicone, which keeps it cool to the touch while the opposite side of the pan has a smaller grip type handle that will get as hot as the pan does.

The Always Pan has a built-in spot on the handle to rest the included beechwood spatula and a top with a knob made of the same material as the handle that fits nicely around the spatula when needed. Our Place even throws in a metal steamer basket with the purchase of the Always Pan.

Is the Always Pan worth it?

Now that we’ve taken a look at the appearance of the pan, it’s time to talk about what Our Place claims the pan replaces in your kitchen, which is a whopping 8 pieces total. It’s supposed to have the versatility of being a “fry pan, saute pan, steamer, skillet, saucier, saucepan, nonstick pan, spatula, and spoon rest” all in one. Our Place states you can “braise, sear, steam, strain, saute, fry, boil, serve, and store” all in this one little magical pan.

As mentioned, we’ve tried this pan out for the last 5 months and have thoroughly enjoyed using it due to its exceptional performance when it comes to cleaning. Anything in this pan will quite literally just slide right off with no harsh, abrasive scrubbing needed, which is good because you wouldn’t want to use anything that would damage the inside coating of this pan.

The outside of the pan isn’t as forgiving however, and we have had to exchange the pan once for the simple reason of the colored part easily staining if anything spills down the pan’s edge. Even elbow grease wasn’t enough to remove the stains so they graciously replaced the pan and we haven’t had that same problem since. The customer service exhibited by the company was excellent in our experience, and they certainly seem to stand behind their product.

The massive downside for us is that you have to keep this pan on low to medium heat, which means things may take a little longer to cook up. However, the results have always come out on top and make it worth the extra time spent.

Always Pan review conclusion

The Always Pan has stirred up some discussions in the world of toxin free living people who both love and question the pan and the materials of which its made. To that we say research, ask the tough questions, and make the best choice for you and your family.

We’ve been impressed with the quality of the nonstick, enjoy the beautiful appearance of this pan, and have been pleased with the results of food cooked in it, but we do wonder what will happen when this pan does happen to get scratched, inevitably during its lifetime, which may shorten its durability and use. Is the price tag of $145 worth the possibility of the Always Pan not being a lifetime pan? Each individual will have to decide that for themselves.
